01

Sediment · 1 micron

A 1-micron spun polypropylene cartridge traps rust, dirt, silt and fine particles from the mains, protecting the next two stages and your fixtures.

02

Catalytic carbon · 0.5 micron

A 0.5-micron catalytic carbon block reduces chlorine and chloramine, the cause of tap water’s chemical taste and smell, along with VOCs.

03

Heavy metal · 5 micron

A 5-micron heavy-metal carbon stage reduces lead and copper that can leach from older pipes and fittings. Then every tap, shower and bath in the home gets filtered water.

Melbourne water

What’s in Melbourne’s water? And what we take out.

Melbourne’s water starts in protected catchments in the Yarra Ranges and is safe to drink. What reaches your tap also picks up chlorine, sediment from the mains and whatever is in your home’s pipes.

  • Water pouring from a kitchen tap into a glass

    Chlorine

Melbourne disinfects its water with chlorine. It’s safe, but you can taste and smell it, especially in the western and growth suburbs, where levels run higher.

  • A glass of discoloured water beside a glass of clear water

    Sediment & discoloured water

Mains works and bursts across Melbourne can stir up silt and rust and send brown water to your taps. Stage one catches it before it reaches the house.

  • Old brass and copper plumbing in a period Melbourne home

    Lead from older plumbing

Melbourne’s mains water is low in lead. The risk is inside older homes: period and pre-1980 houses can have lead solder and brass fittings. Stage three targets it.

  • Pour-over coffee being brewed in a modern kitchen

    Taste & odour

Melbourne starts with some of Australia’s best water. Take out the chlorine and you taste the difference in coffee, tea and ice.

Every tap

Cleaner water in every part of your home. One system, installed where water enters.

  • Luxury Melbourne kitchen with stone island

    Kitchen

Clean water for drinking, cooking, coffee and ice, with no under-sink unit to fit.

  • Dark stone ensuite with a rain shower

    Shower & bath

Less chlorine on your skin and hair, and no chlorine smell in the steam.

  • Oak and stone laundry with folded linen

    Laundry

Softer feel on linen and towels, and less sediment reaching your appliances.

  • Garden with a brass outdoor tap and stone trough

    Garden & outdoor

Every outdoor tap is covered too, so the whole property gets the same water.

The proof

Drag to compare. That’s what would otherwise end up in your pipes, appliances and glass. Industry guidance is to change cartridges every 6 to 12 months. With Clean Care we replace all three every 12 months, and check the sediment stage at 6 months in busy homes.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

On an exterior wall where the mains water enters your home, inside its weatherproof matte black cover. It suits freestanding houses and townhouses with accessible mains.

Our 20-inch high-flow housings are rated to around 50 litres a minute, more than a typical home uses even with several showers running. A gauge on each stage lets us check pressure at every service.

Every 12 months as standard, in line with industry guidance of 6 to 12 months. Larger households, or areas with frequent mains works, may need the sediment cartridge changed at 6 months. Clean Care customers have this booked and done for them.

Yes. Melbourne’s water comes from protected catchments and meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. Filtration is about taste, smell and what your own pipes add, not making unsafe water safe.

No. Carbon filtration doesn’t remove fluoride, and we don’t claim PFAS removal. PFAS hasn’t been detected in Melbourne’s supply network. We’ll always tell you exactly what our system does and doesn’t do.

Clean Care is $349 a year and covers all three cartridges, the service visit and a pressure check. Your first year is free with installation.

Both. For new builds we work with your builder or architect at the plans stage so the mains and cover location are planned in.
